Phones, gaming and other crazy things.

I have used many different forms of amazing new inventions over my life and learning how to use them has never been easy.

I remember the first time  we had a mobile phone, my ex hubby came home with an analogue phone his work had supplied. We were so impressed by it. It had a handle to carry it and was about the size of a small loaf of bread made out of a brick. Wow! We could not believe that you could now ring someone from ANYWHERE .....funnily enough it seemed to get better service than the digital phones that followed.

Then my eldest daughter entered the 'gaming' phase of her life (she still hasn't left it and she is now 30).  The games were so advanced...lol...from the duke box ones I grew up with. Who of us remembers that heart racing terrifying game Space Invaders!!??  So scary!
Goggle it if you are younger than my vintage...as it is something that is hard to explain...and have a go at it if you are brave enough.  :-))

I was hopeless at these games and could not master one. Believe me I tried them all,  Mario ,  Sonic the hedgehog, .....
Then I decided to trick my clever daughter...I had purchased a  new game for her 'Echo the Dolphin' while she was on holidays at her nanas....so I unpackaged it and sat determined to just get though the first level...solve the first puzzle.
I visualised my daughter struggling and I would step in and say ....let me try...and then....( you get the picture).
After two weeks of hard torturous work with the blinking stupid dolphin I finely got him out of the first section. I did not eat or sleep for days, I had been determined and i had beaten it!! I was so proud!
My daughter came home....she opened the packet...(insert her squeals of delight here)....she put the game in the game thingy...she started it up...I went to kitchen to get a cuppa...I came back ready to offer help...

The dolphin was in a cave?? I hadn't seen that? I asked...where is that cave? She replied casually.....''in the third level mummy'.
That was when I gave up on platform games.

Today I limit my 'gaming' to word games, puzzles, and cryptic puzzles. Most of these I play on my iPad, which is where I am typing this.

I love my Nokia phone and my iPad and you  will be pleased to know that I have mastered a few more complicated games such as ....Plants verses Zombies!!!!

I use these to take photos and to communicate with friends on Facebook, I  also use them artistically....where I write poetry, short stories, play with photos to get them just right, and create interactive personal cards to send to my family.

While I know I still know so little in the land of e learning...I am proud to have learnt so very much already...can't wait to learn more.

Tomorrow I will talk about what computer tools/programs etc...  I have used in schools...my successes and my duds.
